You didn't go to law school to do this job the hard way.
I’m building an AI-powered legal function at Worksome, in public, mistakes included. The Field Guide is where I hand you the actual thing — not the story about it.
Why I built this
Legal professionals are smart. We spent years developing judgment, then spend most of our time on work that doesn’t need it. I’m not writing about AI in legal from the outside — I’m the GC actually building this, in real time, at a real company, with real stakes if I get it wrong. The Field Guide is everything that comes out of that: documented as it happens, tested inside a real legal function, and handed to you as the prompts, templates, and frameworks you can use.
What’s inside
The prompts I actually use.
The actual prompts and templates I'm using at Worksome right now. Not screenshots — the real files, explained so you can adapt them to your function.
The Field Kit
What to automate, and what still needs a lawyer.
Where AI handles ops work, where it supports substantive legal work, and where I drew the line — and why. The reasoning, not just the result.
The Decisions
How the whole function is structured.
How the pieces connect, what I built first, what I got wrong, and what the map looks like now. Updated as it changes — this is a living document, not a one-time PDF.
The Architecture
